How to reach Saturnia

From the South of Italy - Rome:

Motorway Rome-Civitavecchia (the whole length); carry straight on, on the National Highway S.S.1 Aurelia. Soon after driving past Montalto di Castro, at km 111 (Hotel Vulci), turn right and follow directions for Manciano. After passing through Montemerano, you reach Saturnia, about 60 km after turning off the Aurelia. The distance from Rome (G.R.A. ring road) to Saturnia is about 160 km, and the journey takes about one and a half hours.

 From North Italy:

Motorway Milan - Bologna - Florence; leave the motorway at “Firenze Certosa”, then take the highway from Siena to Grosseto. Leave the highway at Roselle (about 10 km. before Grosseto) and follow the directions for Scansano and then Saturnia. The distance from Milan to Saturnia is about 450 km, and the journey takes about 4 and a half hours. The journey from Florence is about 200 km, which takes 2 and a half hours.

 

Poggio Murella

From the South of Italy - Rome:

Motorway Rome-Civitavecchia (the whole length); carry straight on, on the National Highway S.S.1 Aurelia. Soon after driving past Montalto di Castro, at km 111 (Hotel Vulci), turn right and follow directions for Manciano. Then, about 53 km after leaving the Aurelia, and driving through Montemerano, you arrive at Saturnia. Do not go into the village of Saturnia, carry on the same windy road for about 6 km., until Poggio Capanne, where you turn right.

There is also a shorter route, but very steep, which you can reach by driving around the back of the perimeter of Terme di Saturnia premises. The distance from Rome (G.R.A. ring road) to Poggio Murella is about 169 km, and the journey takes about one and a half hours.

 From North Italy:

Motorway Milan - Bologna - Florence; leave the motorway at “Firenze Certosa”, then take the highway from Siena to Grosseto. Pitigliano

From the outh of Italy - Rome:

Motorway Rome-Civitavecchia (the whole length); carry straight on, on the National Highway S.S.1 Aurelia. Soon after driving past Montalto di Castro, at km 111 (Hotel Vulci), turn right and follow directions for Manciano. Then follow on to Pitigliano.

From Saturnia, follow the windy road for about 10 km to Catabbio, then follow the directions for Sovana and Pitigliano. The distance from Rome (G.R.A. ring road) to Pitigliano is about 180 km, and the journey takes about two hours.

 From North Italy:

Motorway Milan - Bologna - Florence; leave the motorway at “Orvieto”, then follow the indications to “S. Lorenzo Nuovo” and then Pitigliano.

 

Semproniano

From the South of Italy - Rome:

Motorway Rome-Civitavecchia (the whole length); carry straight on, on the National Highway S.S.1 Aurelia. Soon after driving past Montalto di Castro, at km 111 (Hotel Vulci), turn right and follow directions for Manciano. After passing through Montemerano, you reach Saturnia, about 60 km after turning off the Aurelia. Do not enter the village of Saturnia, carry on for about 2 km until you reach first the turn-off for Usi and then the turn-off for Semproniano to the left (new shorter route). You can also carry straight on (longer route).

The distance from Rome (G.R.A. ring road) to Semproniano is about 170 km, and the journey takes about one hour and 45 minutes.

 From North Italy:

Motorway Milan - Bologna - Florence; leave the motorway at “Firenze Certosa”, then take the highway from Siena to Grosseto. Leave the highway at Roselle (about 10 km. before Grosseto) and follow the directions for Scansano and then Saturnia. Do not enter the village of Saturnia, carry on for about 2 km until you reach first the turn-off for Usi and then the turn-off for Semproniano to the left (new shorter route). Sovana

Soon after driving past Montalto di Castro, at km 111 (Hotel Vulci), turn right and follow directions for Manciano. Then follow on to Pitigliano. When you have almost arrived at the village, on a bend, turn left in the direction of Saturnia, and after about 6 km you come to Sovana

 From Saturnia, follow the windy road for about 10 km to Catabbio, then follow the directions for Sovana. The distance from Rome (G.R.A. ring road) to Sovana is about 180 km, and the journey takes about two hours.

 From North Italy:

Montemerano

From the South of Italy - Rome:

Soon after driving past Montalto di Castro, at km 111 (Hotel Vulci), turn right and follow directions for Manciano and, from there, Montemerano. The distance from Rome (G.R.A. ring road) to Montemerano is about 153 km, and the journey takes about one hours and twenty minutes..

 From North Italy:

Motorway Milan - Bologna - Florence; leave the motorway at “Firenze Certosa”, then take the highway from Siena to Grosseto. Leave the highway at Roselle (about 10 km. before Grosseto) and follow the directions for Scansano and Saturnia.At about 10 km from Saturnia, at the crossroads, instead of turning left, in the direction of Saturnia, carry straight on for Montemerano. The distance from Milan to Montemerano is about 450 km, and the journey takes about 4 and a half hours. The journey from Florence is about 200 km, which takes 2 and a half hours.
