Montemerano
Montemerano stands on a hill in a dominant position, just a few kilometres away from Saturnia and the Spa. It is an extremely characteristic village with some truly wonderful views.
Despite its small size, it has a very attractive old town with narrow winding alleyways, little squares and ancient medieval gates.
The medieval citadel also includes a 14th century tower adorned by a small window with a central column. The remains of the walls and towers dating back to the 15th century can be seen around the outskirts of the village. The Church of S. Giorgio, dating back to the late Middle Ages and situated on the left after crossing the ancient bridge to the north, houses some beautiful frescoes and paintings.
Montemerano is therefore ideal for those who want to spend their time in a unique atmosphere, at just a few minutes drive away from the Spa.
