Rocchette di Fazio

Rocchette di Fazio is truly unique and well worth a visit. It is a small hamlet, just 3 km from Semproniano, where time seems to have stood still.

There is practically no traffic as the hamlet’s narrow streets are unsuitable for cars.

The village is home to dozens of relaxed cats, who stretch out undisturbed in the sun. Practically all the houses are made from stone and the narrow streets and ancient gates alternate with glimpses of the valleys below.

The highest part of the hamlet, reached by climbing up a flight of stone steps, offers a breathtaking view and, if you listen carefully, you will also be able to hear the river running in the valley below. There is also a romantic stone bench for two in this spot.

The little church in the square is open on Sundays. It is built in the same style as the rest of the hamlet, with a healthy, disarming, ancient and now lost simplicity.

Rocchette also offers accommodation in apartments and you can eat in the hostelry in the square. If you require any other services, you will need to travel to Semproniano, 3 km away.

It’s easy to get to Rocchette: when you enter to village of Semproniano (coming from Saturnia) you will see the signposts. Just turn left and keep going straight ahead, around the various bends. Bear in mind that there is a small, recently built stone village on the left during the last few hundred metres of the road, which could confuse you. The actual hamlet is a few hundred metres further on.
